Meet Doug Novinger he finally graduated high school after 21 years. The paper I work for is doing a story on an adult with mental disabilities graduating high school. It sucks that I only got to photograph the graduation, I would of loved to of spent more time with him in class, at home, etc... but here is what I got.

This is a little start of a story that I'm going to be working on about the Diakon Youth Services Wilderness Center, outside of Boiling Springs, PA. It's a place that teaches troubled youth that were sent there through a court order,(instead of going to juvenile hall) life skills such as carpentry, horticulture and culinary arts. However, some of the that kids are sent take part in a wilderness program were they go off into the woods for 30 days with a instructor and live off the land, then left alone for 2 days.( I can't wait for that to happen, great photos to take place) Right now, the place is starting to get permission from the judges and parents to have the kids identified, so there will be more to come instead of two cheesy shots of the instructors.

Last night I went to the circus and it truly was the greatest show on earth.

This week for my Everyday People assignment I decided at the last minute to shoot nothing but vets since Memorial Day is coming upon us. So I made a few phone calls to the local Naval base and here is a few of my favorite portraits.

Yes they are images of famous politicians, but that's not the point. I forget sometimes that one the best parts about the job is being able to document history as it happens. Which doesn't occur all that much working for a community newspaper.

Today's is the first day that I didn't shoot anything for the past 2 weeks so here's a image from a brush fire I shot earlier in the year that happened in Littlestown, Pa

Congratulations on checking out my first blog. So the paper that I shoot for started up a feature section called Everyday People which runs one image a day, and I have total creative control over what I'm going to shoot. This past Friday I had the chance to sit through Friday's Khotbeh at a local Islamic Center, I didn't have much space to move around since it was a small room and totally packed, but these two are my favorites.
